Chairman and CEO
Stevens is the founder and major investor in VAI. He has 20 years of entrepreneurial business experience and has founded four other technology-based companies all with successful international products. The most recent Visible Genetics Inc. (VGIN), a Biotech company specializes in DNA sequencing and genotyping. He served as Chairman and CEO for five years. During his tenure as CEO, he was responsible for a highly successful NASDAQ IPO, took the company from zero to annual revenues of $10.9 mm, with over 200 worldwide employees, and 500 customer sites. Under his leadership VGI developed its full product line of DNA sequencers, kits (HIV, HepC, HepB), software, created manufacturing facilities with all necessary cGMP quality systems, established world wide sales and support, had over 37 US patents issued or allowed with another 35 patents pending, obtained all necessary FDA clearance (IDE and Open Label approval) to proceed with its current FDA approved HIV genotyping program. Dr. Stevens holds a PhD. in biophysics from the University of Pennsylvania (1974), and has held positions at University of Pennsylvania (Associate Professor), University of Toronto (Tenured Full Professor), and was director of the Eye Research Inst. of Canada.
Chief Operating Officer
Michael Norton’s career spans more than 30 years in manufacturing and general management, having held positions as CEO, President, and COO of several technology companies. He has led Engineering and Manufacturing activities at L3-Cyterra, Andros, and at Thermo Voltek (TVL , Amex) and Keytek Instrument, both Thermo Electron Companies. Mr. Norton most recently served as Executive Vice President and COO of L3-Cyterra, Developing the first Dual-sensor Hand Held Landmine Detection System, which replaces 100% of The US Military systems capability world wide, and was responsible for R&D and Instruments for security markets. Mr. Norton began his career in 1977 as Product Manager for Keytek Instrument developing the worlds first Lightning Simulation and ESD test instruments commercially available. He later evolved Keytek into the public company Thermo Voltek, the world leader in EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) Compliance Systems. Mr. Norton holds a Masters of Arts degree from Yale University.
Chief Financial Officer
Bradley Price is CFO of Visible Assets with responsibility for all financial and regulatory reporting and compliance matters. Bradley attended the University of Windsor where he obtained his Bachelor of Commerce degree. Bradley earned his Chartered Accountant designation while articling with the accounting and audit service firm of Price Waterhouse. During Bradley’s twenty years of industry experience he has held senior financial positions in multinational companies engaged in manufacturing and distribution activities with overall responsibility for financial reporting, information technology, management discussion and analysis, treasury, strategic planning, risk management and taxation. As an active participant at the senior management level, Bradley also has extensive experience in areas beyond the traditional finance role including marketing and sales, human resources and facilities management.
Executive Vice President
Craig works closely with our licensees and partners to bring new RuBee solutions to the market across our lines of business including military, government, tools, and energy exploration. He also manages our worldwide Partner Sales efforts, including Oracle, ST Engineering, Mitac, and DDP. Craig brings over 15 years of experience building and delivering innovative technology products in a variety of industries. In previous roles, he has built solutions for companies ranging including AT&T, the Mayo Clinic and Coach. Craig began his career with General Electric and then joined US WEST’s research labs (now Qwest) where led a team of developers involved in large-scale networking applications. Since then he has been involved with entrepreneurial technology companies, including Emperative, a Greylock-funded network management software company that was acquired by AT&T in 2003. Craig holds a B.S. in Finance from the University of Vermont, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, and is a graduate of the General Electric Financial Management Program.
Vice President of Technology
and Corporate Counsel
Jason is responsible for the management of all legal issues, including but not limited to the protection of its intellectual property and corporate structure. He is also responsible for managing human resources and investor relations. Prior to joining VAI, Jason was Director of Patents and Licensing for Visible Genetics Inc., a publicly traded company on NASDAQ (VGIN). He also brings with him experience in private practice from the firm Gowling Lafleur Henderson LLP (formerly Gowling, Strathy & Henderson) where he maintained an intellectual property law practice specializing in the protection of biotechnology and software related patents, trademarks and copyrights in the firm's Toronto Office. Mr. August holds a Bachelor of Science specializing in Genetics from McGill University and a Law Degree from the University of Windsor where he completed a joint program in American and Canadian Intellectual Property Law at Wayne State University and the University of Detroit. He has written several intellectual property articles including publications in Patent World and IP World that focused on the topic of software patents in the United States and Canada. Mr. August is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (formerly the Patent and Trademark Institute of Canada) and the Canadian Bar Association.
